What is a Mendocino motor??

This is a unique engine that runs on light energy. It has no batteries or other external power sources. Instead, it uses solar panels built into the rotor to convert light into movement.

How does it work?

The motor consists of a rotor and a base.
Solar panels create electrical voltage. The current flowing through the rotor windings generates a magnetic field that interacts with the magnetic field of the permanent magnet, setting the rotor in motion.

Autostart of motors depends on many factors: the speed of increase in light brightness, the accuracy of rotor balancing, the light source, the angle of incidence of light, the initial position of the rotor. We cannot guarantee that the motor will start itself. Some start, some do not. The Classic and Hexagon models start more often than others. Rotor swaying is normal.

Can the engine start itself?

Place the motor so that the light falls on the solar panels.

Place the sharp end of the rotor against the glass and lower the rotor onto the magnetic suspension.

Give the rotor an initial spin so that it makes one revolution.

Each motor has its own direction of rotation, so if the rotor does not start to accelerate in one direction, then push it in the other direction.

Do not position the motor at an acute angle to the light!
In this position, the rotor will not rotate.

To avoid damage to the motor, do not carry it while the rotor is suspended.

Transport only in disassembled state!

Position the motor so that the glass is on the left and the light falls on you.
